Invert, Inc. ("Company," "we," "our," "us") operates invertbio.com and the Invert platform (the "Service").

When you use our website or interact with us directly, Invert acts as a data controller.

When you use our platform as part of an organization, Invert generally acts as a data processor on behalf of that organization, which controls the data processed through the Service. We may still act as a controller for certain information, such as account, billing, security, and how we operate and improve the Service, as described in this policy and, where applicable, in our agreements with your organization.

  • name and contact details (such as email) and, where relevant, professional or organization details (such as company name)

  • information and content you or your organization submit in the platform (such as files, configurations, or operational data)
  • communications with us

Information collected automatically

  • usage data (such as pages visited and actions taken)
  • device and browser information (which may include IP address and approximate location derived from it)
  • cookies and similar technologies

We do not intentionally collect sensitive categories of personal data through our website or standard marketing forms. Your organization may submit a wider range of information through the platform; that processing is governed by our agreement with them where applicable.

4. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • provide and operate the Service, including authentication, accounts, and security
  • support and respond to inquiries
  • improve and monitor the Service
  • meet legal and contractual obligations

Where required by applicable law, we process personal information:

  • to perform a contract with you or your organization
  • based on our legitimate interests, where permitted
  • with your consent, where required
  • to comply with legal obligations

When we act as a processor for your organization, we process personal information in accordance with our agreement with that organization and their instructions.

We may send service-related communications. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time.

5. Customer Data

Personal information included in customer data processed through the platform is controlled by our customers. In this context, Invert acts as a data processor.

We process this information to provide, secure, and support the Service, in accordance with our agreements with the customer and their instructions.

Our use of AI and limited metadata is described in Section 6 (AI and Data Use).

We implement logical and technical controls to isolate customer data between organizations.

6. AI and Data Use

AI features are optional and only used if enabled by you or your organization, as applicable.

Invert may use limited customer metadata, such as filenames, within narrowly scoped internal classification systems to improve product usability (for example, mapping selection). These systems:

  • use limited metadata inputs
  • do not process underlying datasets
  • do not generate content
  • do not affect customer-specific outcomes

Customer data is not used to train general-purpose or cross-customer models unless expressly agreed in writing.

7. Sharing of Information

We may share personal information with:

  • service providers that support our operations
  • affiliates within our corporate group
  • legal, regulatory, or law enforcement authorities when required by law
  • a successor in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets involving Invert

We require service providers to process personal information only on our behalf and in accordance with appropriate security and confidentiality obligations.

A list of subprocessors is available upon request or in our Trust Center.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to:

  • provide the Service
  • meet legal obligations
  • resolve disputes and enforce our agreements

When personal information is no longer needed, we delete it, subject to reasonable technical and operational constraints (such as backups) and legal requirements.

Retention of customer data processed on behalf of our customers is governed by our agreements with them.

9. International Transfers

We process personal information in the United States and, where we use service providers or infrastructure in other countries, in those locations as necessary to provide the Service.

When we transfer personal information across borders, we implement appropriate safeguards required by applicable law, such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent measures.
